DFS NFL FanDuel Top Weekly Plays: (Week 3)

Welcome to the NFL FanDuel Week 3 Top Plays. I will highlight the best cash game, value plays, and GPP options with FanDuel’s scoring/salary in mind. These can typically be used on all sites, but use some common sense if another site scores differently or has a different salary. Remember, this is only a guide, and several factors may influence who you should select each day. Please keep in mind that unless noted, weather is not taken into account and with NFL action, it can be a factor.

Week 3 FanDuel Cheat Sheet

Cash Game  Aaron Rodgers GB vs. CIN $9,300
I believe this is another week we can afford to spend up at quarterback in our lineups since we probably do not have to spend up at wide receiver. If we’re going to spend up, we might as well go all the way up to Aaron Rodgers. The Packers have always been a pass heavy team since Aaron Rodgers has been their starting quarterback and that does not appear to be changing anytime soon, considering he made over 40 passing attempts in each of his first two games this season. That trend should continue in Week 3 against the Bengals, who have not looked to great on defense through the first two weeks.

Value Play Andy Dalton CIN @ GB $6,800
Andy Dalton and the Bengals have been awful through the first two games, scoring zero touchdowns. To be fair, they have had two really tough matchups right out of the gate
against the Ravens and the Bengals. This week they will travel to Green Bay to play the Packers. I do not believe they will beat the Packers this Sunday, but I do believe they will at least score a couple of touchdowns against the Packers, who do not have a very good defense.

GPP Option Cam Newton vs. NO $8,100
Coming down the home stretch during the 2015 season, I was extremely successful on FanDuel by simply picking on the Saints defense every week with their opposing quarterback. So far, it looks like we can do the same thing again in 2017. The Saints have been awful against the pass through two weeks, allowing six passing touchdowns. Cam Newton very well could have a monster game, and I think some people may shy away from this week since he is a little banged up.

Running Back

Cash Game Le’Veon Bell PIT @ CHI $8,700
Le’Veon Bell has still yet to find the endzone in 2017, but which means he is way overdue for a huge game. Last week he had 27 rushing attempts and caught all four of his targets for a total of 31 touches. He should be in line for a similar number of touches this week in a great matchup against the Bears. The Steelers are huge favorites despite being on the road, which means Bell should get a ton of volume in the second half of this game.

Value Play Dalvin Cook MIN vs. TB $6,500
Dalvin Cook did not have nearly as good as a game in Week 2 as he did in his NFL debut in Week 1. However, I think that had to do more with the game script last week against the Steelers. The Steelers jumped out to a huge lead which caused the Vikings to have to abandon the run. The Buccaneers are slightly favored in this matchup, but I do not expect the Buccaneers to run away with this game, which means is more likely to see closer to 20 carries again this week.

GPP Option C.J. Anderson DEN @ BUF $6,900
The matchup on paper looks pretty tough, but I truly believe that C.J. Anderson could be a very solid, contrarian GPP option for Week 3. Anderson had at least 20 carries and three targets in each game so far this season. With Trevor Siemian looking like a much better passer this season, Anderson should benefit from defenses not being able to key in on him. Anderson should definitely fly under the radar this week for low ownership.

Wide Receiver

Cash Game A.J. Green CIN @ GB $7,500
A.J. Green has continued to be Andy Dalton’s favorite target with a total of 18 targets and 10 receptions through their first two games. You can either choose to play Green alone in your cash game lineups or stack him in GPPs with Dalton and a receiver from the Packers side as well.

Value Play Kendall Wright CHI vs. PIT $5,600
If you are looking for a value wide receiver this  week, consider using Kendall Wright. The Bears are extremely depleted in wide receivers since Cam Meredith and Kevin White are out for the remainder of the season. The Bears will likely be trailing to the Steelers in the second this Sunday, which means that there is a very real possibility that Wright can gain some cheap, garbage time receptions and yardage late in this game.

GPP Option Kelvin Benjamin CAR vs. NO $6,600
Kelvin Benjamin makes for a great stack in GPP contests this week. With Greg Olsen placed on IR, Benjamin is going to have to step up as the lead receiver for this Panthers’ offense. He shouldn’t have any trouble doing so against the Saints this week, who have really struggled at defending the pass so far this season.

Tight End

Cash Game Zach Ertz PHI vs. NYG $6,500
There are a lot of solid tight end options at the top of the salary list, but I’m going to drop down just a couple of spots to Zach Ertz. Ertz has been heavily targeted by Carson Wentz in the early going, with 10 targets, five receptions and 97 yards in Week 2 and eight targets, eight receptions and 93 yards in Week 1. Ertz has potential to have another decent game in Week 3 against the Giants, whose weakness on defense is in the middle of the field with their linebackers.

Value Jack Doyle IND vs. CLE $5,300
Jacoby Brissett drew the start over Scott Tolzien in Week 2 for the Colts, and he wasn’t nearly as bad. Brissett only tried managing the game and by doing so he threw a lot of short passes. This made Jack Doyle the highest target receiver for the Colts in Week 2, with eight targets, eight receptions and 79 yards. Until Andrew Luck comes back from his shoulder injury, Doyly could very well be the most productive receiver for the Colts.

GPP Option Delanie Walker TEN vs. SEA $6,500
A lot of people thought that Delanie Walker would take a step back in 2017 since the Titans continue to improve the talent of wide receivers around Marcus Mariota. While they have added some young, wide receivers who have a pretty high ceiling, Walker has still been heavily targeted by Mariota. Through the first two games of the season, Walker has 13 targets, 11 receptions and 137 receiving yards. The Seahawks still have a pretty decent defense. However, they were not nearly as good on the road last year as they were at home. This should depress Walker’s ownership percentage, which means he is a very solid GPP option this Sunday.

Possible options

  • Graham Gano CAR vs. NO $4,800
  • Matt Prater DET vs. ATL $4,700
  • Giorgio Tavecchio OAK $4,800 @ WAS

Cash Game Dolphins MIA @ NYJ $5,100
I normally like to target defenses who are playing at home, but this week I am willing to make the exception. The Jets will likely have one of the worst offenses in the NFL this season, so the Dolphins should be able to capitalize this week.

Value Play Eagles PHI vs. NYG $4,500
Eli Manning and the rest of the Giants’ offense have been terrible through the first two weeks of the season. The Eagles have a  pretty young and improving defense, which is anchored by a couple of really solid defensive lineman.

GPP Option Panthers CAR vs. NO $4,500
I doubt too many people will be on the Panthers’ defense this week since they are playing Drew Brees and the Saints. However, Drew Brees has historically been much worse on the road than he has been at home. Anytime you can get a defense at low ownership in a favorable situation, it’s worth pouncing on  in GPPs.
